The 2009 Youth Film Fest will be held May 23 at The Smell in downtown Los Angeles.
Started in 2005, the EPFC Youth Film Fest is an annual event that seeks
to
- present a diverse and eclectic array of youth-produced documentary,
experimental and animated films from around the world
- bring together young filmmakers and dedicated youth arts educators
to share images, ideas and knowledge
- provide a forum for young filmmakers to use the power of cinema in
order to tell their stories and change the world
Festival Information: StereoTypes
Send us your films! The Echo Park Film Center is inviting young filmmakers up to the age of 19 to submit short films for the 2009 EPFC Youth Film Festival. This year, the festival’s theme is StereoTypes. The Echo Park Film Center will be inviting various bands from around the city to perform their music to your film! Be ready for your hip-hop style film to be scored by a ska band and for a punk band to scream over your images of flowers!
We’re looking to break down stereotypes, so send us your films exploring the topic in whatever form you choose… social justice issues, personal relationships, the changing urban landscape, or even a film about your cat! Filmmakers are free to creatively express themselves within any film genre (i.e. Experimental, Documentary, Narrative, Animation etc.) but remember, a band will be playing over any sound in your movie, so mold your film specifically for music to be played to it. We urge you to utilize evocative imagery in your films to get your message across.
Fifteen selected films will be screened with live music on the day of the festival and posted on EPFC ’s YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/echoparkfilmcenter
Create a film, say something about the world, and hear it live!
