Started as an EPFC Youth Class in the fall of 2010, The Sound We See has become an ongoing international project celebrating city symphonies, community creative experience and handmade film. Come on down and check out the latest installments: SWS: Vancouver created by street-engaged youth in February 2016;  SWS: Goteborg created by a multi-generational group of students, artists and educators in Sweden’s second-largest city in November 2016; and SWS: CDMX created over a 24-hour period in January 2017 by new and established filmmakers associated with Laboratorio Experimental de Cine (aka LEC), Mexico City’s dynamic new experimental cinema collective. WAYWARD EMULSIONS: FILMS BY TINA TAKEMOTO

Takemoto’s new works explore queer Asian American history and identity through found imagery and an array of handmade techniques including painting, bleaching, and lifting emulsion from stray reels of 35mm films. Takemoto is currently an artist-in-residence for +Lab hosted by Visual Communications and the Little Tokyo Service Center.
