Since we are screening our Sustainable LA program twice this month – at
the 18th Street art Center on September 5th and in Tijuana on September 27th – why
not show the films all month long in the world’s smallest video booth?
Come by and get inspired to change the world.
Thursday, September 4 –BURNING MUSEUM: ELECTRIC ZINE– 8

A night of various works-in-progress by Keith Morris on PUNK, Joey Altruda
on SKA, music videos by the Germs, DMaggs & Circle Jerks, plus various
shorts by curator Joshua Triliegi.
Friday, September 5 – EPFC FILMMOBILE ON THE ROAD – 7PM
In conjunction with the CITIZEN ARTISTS show at the 18th Street Art Center
we have been invited to drive on over the EPFC Filmmobile (www.filmmobile.org)
and screen our Sustainable LA program as part of the exhibit. It will be
a FREE outdoor Screening. Please come along!

Saturday, September 6 – SENIORS DIGITAL FILMMAKING WORKSHOP – 11
AM – 1 PM
EPFC invites neighborhood seniors ages 60+ to join us for our FREE Introduction
to Digital Filmmaking Workshop. Learn how to use digital cameras and basic
computer editing software to make your own movie in a relaxed and informal
setting. All workshop materials and equipment provided by EPFC. No previous
filmmaking experience necessary.
Sunday, September 7 – DIRECTING FOR FILM – 1 PM – 5

Tips on working with actors, shooting a film and finding your audience. Class
size is limited; call or email to reserve your spot. Instructor: Mike Ott.

Thursday, September 11 – HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL PREVIEW – 8

Join us on the anniversary of “9/11” as we have a special night
of dialogue and conversation to examine the state of the world we live in.
Join us for this sneak preview as we gear up for our 8th Annual Human Rights
Film Festival (October 24 – 26) with this preview screening.
Friday, September 12 – FILMS BY DEAN SNIDER – 8

San Francisco underground filmmaker Dean Snider was born in March 3,1949 and
died October 13, 1994. During the Seventies he studied filmmaking at the
San Francisco Art Institute, and helped launch the 'No Nothing Cinema,' as
an alternative to the dominant ‘Cinematheque’, which had an authoritarian
headlock on Bay Area underground film screenings. Come see a night of his
films projected in all their glory!

Calling all interested adults looking to learn the beauty and grace of digital
editing! All equipment and materials provided by EPFC. Class limited to 5 students;

Filmforum's Fall 2008 season will begin September 14 at the Echo Park Film
Center with part 1 of the Best of the Ann Arbor Film Festival - one of the

Tuesday, September 16 – FALL YOUTH FILMMAKING ORIENTATION – 7

Calling all neighborhood youth ages 13 – 19 looking to join the cinematic
revolution! Join us for Show and Tell, a free 12-week filmmaking collaboration
with 826LA focused on making short narrative films. All equipment, materials
and instruction provided by EPFC. Space is limited; this meeting is mandatory
for all interested students and their parents/guardians.

Film collector and EPFC Staff Dino Everett member scours his personal archive
to bring us rare gems projected on spectacular 16mm and 9.5mm. This month
we have two silents: His Majesty Bunker Bean from 1925 and A Man’s
Size Pet from 1926. LIVE ACCOMPANIMENT BY MICHAEL MORTILLA. CURATOR/COLLECTOR

Friday, September 19 – VENEZUELA: REVOLUTION FROM INSIDE
OUT – 7:30 PM
Venezuela: Revolution from the Inside Out is a voyage into Latin America’s
most exciting experiment of the new millennium, exploring the history and projects
of the Bolivarian Revolution through interviews with a range of its participants,
from academics to farm workers and those living in the margins of Caracas. This
introduction to the “revolución bonita” (“pretty revolution”)
offers in-depth interviews, unforgettable images and a lively soundtrack that
will open new vistas onto this hopeful human project. Presented by Witness for

La Reserva Forest Foundation is a non-profit volunteer, educational and scientific
charitable organization dedicated to the recovery and preservation of indigenous
tropical rain forests in Costa Rica. A representative from the organization
