LA AIR presents TROYESE ROBINSON: Dislocation

Thursday, March 28 at 8 PM

Doors 7:30 pm; FREE EVENT!

LA AIR invites local artists to utilize EPFC resources in creating and premiering new, experimental, documentary, and personal work over a two-month period.

Organized by the February/March Echo Park Film Center Artist In Residence, Troyese Robinson, this program features video works that consider forms of dislocation: micro communities existing in discordant terrains, bodies orienting themselves within cartography, the home emerging as a locus for the preternatural. These videos engage the breach between self and site, exploring a sharp inability to accede to one’s circumstance. Dislocation freezes the moment of passage from one place to another, offering a clandestine view of the departures, arrivals, and ruptures that occur in the interim. While these videos point to that which is beyond the frame, the elsewhere of dislocation, they are persisted by traces of absent locations, entities, and events.
