Sunday, June 1 – PLANNING YOUR INDIE MOVIE – 1 – 5 PM
A course in how to take your ideas and turn them into reality, no matter how minimal your resources. Learn the steps of pre-production and piecing together all the tools you’ll need to get your movie into production. Learn how to organize and schedule your production to make it run as smoothly and professionally as possible. Class limited to 10 students; tuition is $60/$50 for EPFC members. Thursday, June 5 – SILENT FILM NIGHT: THE UNTAMEABLE – 8 PM
The Most Shocking Film of 1923! Directed by Herbert Blache, The Untameable dramatizes the then-sensational subject of dual personality, with Gladys Walton in the dual role of Joy and her whip-toting, brutal, sadistic alter-ego Edna, and Etta Lee as her faithful Asian lesbian maid. You have never seen anything like it! And amazing comedy shorts from the late '20s from the unjustly forgotten Al Christie studios! CURATOR/COLLECTOR TOM BARNES IN ATTENDANCE!

Friday, June 6 – NEW INDIE: CARBUNCLE – 8 PM
Carbuncle, "a mobile home drama with a disabling sense of humor", concerns a director with Asperger's Syndrome making a movie about a mentally challenged woman in a mobile home park who is manipulated by her alcoholic social worker. The film was made on a micro-budget over the course of 5 years and premiered at the Milan Film Festival. Carbuncle, starring Shawn Lockie and Jim Eshom, is the first feature-length film from T. Saturday, June 7 – SENIORS DIGITAL FILMMAKING WORKSHOP – 11 AM – 1 PM
EPFC invites neighborhood seniors ages 60+ to join us for our FREE Introduction to Digital Filmmaking Workshop. Learn how to use digital cameras and basic computer editing software to make your own movie in a relaxed and informal setting. All materials and equipment provided by EPFC. No previous filmmaking experience necessary.

Sunday, June 8 – THIS IS THE LA RIVER @ NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM – 3:30 PM
This Is The LA River, the Fall 2007 EPFC Youth Documentary Project, screens as part of A Diversity of Voices, a selection of projects funded in part by the California Council for the Humanities. The film will be followed by a Q & A session with EPFC students. More info at www.nhm.org

Thursday, June 12 - SLAMFEST: A NIGHT OF ANIMATION – 8 PM
Giant Elephants Roam is a new non-profit organization that brings the art of animation education into prison and awesome animated films out. Slamfest is a celebration of work made by inmates at Antelope Valley State Prison as part of GER’s pilot project in conjunction with the California State Prison Honor Program plus films by friends and supporters of this terrific organization. Friday, June 13 - SPOKEN WORD NIGHT: WILL WRIGHT READS – 8 PM
A semi-regular gathering of writers and the folks who love ‘em. Past readings have included critical theory, fiction, drama, poetry, performance, erotica, excerpts from plays, poorly written ad copy promoting consumables, letters to your math teacher and more. Featured Writers/ Performers include: Kim Calder, Darick Chamberlin, Michael Chick, Doug Cordell, Peter Darchuk, Sean Dungan. Sunday, June 15 – iMOVIE – 1 – 5 PM
A terrific introduction to digital editing! This one-day class covers importing, organizing and editing digital footage as well as adding music, titles and special effects. If time permits, students will also learn how to create and burn DVDs. All equipment and materials provided by EPFC but students are also welcome to bring in their own footage. Sunday, June 15 – WORKS IN PROGRESS PRESENTS: MUSTACHE – 7 – 10 PM
Works In Progress: Narrative is an informal monthly workshop/lecture series for new and established filmmakers working on narrative films… This month we present Mustache, directed by Jim Stewart. A comedy of violence, sex, excess and redemption, Mustache is one day in the life of a collection of odd, possibly unredeemable characters fighting their demons or simply fighting with each other. Thursday, June 19 – INDIE DOC NIGHT: HOLLYWOOD UFO – 8 PM
Take a bizarre journey into a community of self styled paranormal investigators and alleged abductees that stretches from East Hollywood to Nevada’s Area 51. Hollywood UFO incorporates declassified military footage, vintage government propaganda, and classic science fiction films, and contains some graphic images which may shock and disturb you. Wednesday, June 25 – ATA PRESENTS: THE BEST OF OPEN SCREEN – 8 PM
This collection of 16 films represents the best of the Open Screening sessions conducted at ATA in San Francisco. The Artists' Television Access organization is a nonprofit, all-volunteer, artist-run, experimental media arts gallery that has been in operation since 1984. ATA hosts a series of film and video Open Screenings, exhibitions and performances by emerging and established artists and a weekly cable access television program. Thursday, June 26 – DINO’S DRIVE-IN: TATTOOED TEARS – 8 PM
This month, Dino's Drive-In brings you the "Bad Boys of Summer," featuring a 30th anniversary screening of Nick Broomfield's 1978 documentary Tattooed Tears (complete and uncut), an uncompromising look inside the California criminal justice system for at risk youths. Starting the night off are two silent shorts each featuring the Hallroom Boys and projected on spectacular 9.5mm. If you've never seen this rare format, don't miss this chance! Sunday, June 29 –SAN FRANCISCO INDIE NIGHT: FILMS BY JIM BREEN – 7:30 PM
A & I Pictures is pleased to announce the first Los Angeles screening of Valentine's Day (2008, 56 min.) and My Grief is My Own (2007, 56 min.).
