FLAX PRESENTS LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT LANDSCAPE

The French Los Angeles Exchange (FLAX) presents the remiere of Etienne de France’s “Looking for the Perfect Landscape” at the Echo Park Film Center on November 5 at 5:00pm followed by a Q&A with FLAX Program Director and Curator Anna Milone. This video made in consultation with The Autry Museum of the American West, was created by Etienne de France during his residency with FLAX.

Jamahke, young Mohave artist works for the Colorado River Indian Tribe Museum in Parker, Arizona. Skate lover and creative person, he carries and perpetuates an important heritage by learning and practicing traditional Bird Songs, which constitute spiritual maps and journeys through Mohave ancestral lands. One day, Jamahke is hired by a film production company to scout for landscape and locations for a period feature film, taking place in Mohave aboriginal territory.

WAYWARD EMULSIONS: FILMS BY TINA TAKEMOTO

Takemoto’s new works explore queer Asian American history and identity through found imagery and an array of handmade techniques including painting, bleaching, and lifting emulsion from stray reels of 35mm films. Takemoto is currently an artist-in-residence for +Lab hosted by Visual Communications and the Little Tokyo Service Center.
