8-HOUR ANNIVERSARY SALON

Saturday, December 9, 4 PM to MIDNITE 

Celebrate 16 years of the Echo Park Film Center with films, videos, music, music videos, performances, poetry, snacks, and more, stretching from the late afternoon until midnight. Sliding scale donations in any amount go towards keeping EPFC operations up and running for the year to come!

We’re kicking everything off at 4 pm with 2 hours of songs, stories and poems by Los Gatitos, Beaux & Phillippe, TMJ, Carmina Escobar, Shaz & JP, Kelly Martin, and Fernanda and the Band, all topped off with a rare 16mm screening of The Florentine Collection, a beautiful film by Helen Hill and Paul Gailiunas.

We’ll have a short reception and at 7 pm ease into 12 brand new Super 8 films commissioned by EPFC, all projected from camera originals! Filmmakers include: Jon Almaraz, Nic Brynolfson, Jackie Castillo, Michael Cruickshank, Groupo del Derecho a la Tierra, Simon Gulergun, Lydia Hwang, Carrie Keith & Dylan Sharp, Maria Magnusson, Andrés Mansisidor, Dolissa Medina and Antonio Santana.

We’ll also be announcing our 2018 LA AIR artists in residence, and will be screening previous work of theirs at the event and the work of former LA AIRs too!

We’ll also have films and videos by members of the extended EPFC famiglia, including Gina Napolitan, Andrew Kim & Karissa Hahn, Mike Stoltz, Lily Yu, Beaux Mingus, Gemma Jimenez, Cosmo Segerson, Phil Logan, Chloe Reyes, Heather Trawick, Dicky Bahto, Emett Casey, Will O’Loughlen, and a special screening of Luciano Piazza’s feature length 16mm film Las Vegas in 16 Parts and MORE MORE MORE.

WAYWARD EMULSIONS: FILMS BY TINA TAKEMOTO

Takemoto’s new works explore queer Asian American history and identity through found imagery and an array of handmade techniques including painting, bleaching, and lifting emulsion from stray reels of 35mm films. Takemoto is currently an artist-in-residence for +Lab hosted by Visual Communications and the Little Tokyo Service Center.
