2017 Filmmobile Summer Screening Series: A Day In The Sun

Friday Nights at 8 pm: August 11, 18 and 25 – various locations

Angelenos are invited to discover and explore their changing urban landscape when the Filmmobile projects an array of classic, experimental and avant-garde films at cinematic locations across the city! Events begin at 8 pm for three consecutive Friday nights beginning August 11. Refreshments provided. Bring a chair! Free admission! Everyone welcome! For our 9th season, we celebrate the filmmakers of the EPFC Co-op with A DAY IN THE SUN.

Launched in 2016, the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts Artist Project Grants seek to further Mike Kelley’s philanthropic work and honor his legacy by supporting innovative projects with visual artists at L.A. nonprofit institutions and organizations.  In recognition of their countless hours as the Center’s educators, programmers, projectionists and facilitators, Echo Park Film Center Co-op members—Rick Bahto, Emett Casey, Brenda Contreras, Paolo Davanzo, Andrew Kim, Eve-Lauryn Little Shell LaFountain, Kate Lain, Lisa Marr, Shauna McGarry, Beaux Gest Mingus, Gina Napolitan, Will O’Loughlen, Ellie Parker, Miko Revereza, Chloe Reyes, Cosmo Segurson, Sharmaine Starks, Mike Stoltz, Ariel Teal, and Penelope Uribe-Abee—were commissioned to make new experimental lens-based works exploring their relationships to Los Angeles. Coming from all walks of life, Co-op members include both experienced and self-taught filmmakers, queer identifying filmmakers, artists of color, art school graduates, and EPFC youth film program alumni.  Their films and videos will be shown around the city via the EPFC Filmmobile and EPFC Filmcicle.

The objective is to talk about feminism - from art, from humor, from the everyday, from the margins, to make this festival a tool capable of questioning the social and cultural meaning of artistic practices as generators of critical thinking.”
