Paolo Davanzo, Founder/Executive Director
Paolo Davanzo was born in Italy and immigrated to the United States with his family at age 7. Paolo started EPFC in honor of his parents, social justice activists who passed away early in his life. An Associate Professor in the Film & Video Department of College of the Canyons, Paolo holds a BA Degree in Visual Arts & Political Science from UC San Diego and a Masters Degree in Film from Humboldt State University. He is the founder and programmer of the Human Rights Film Festival, the EPFC Youth Film Festival and the Polyester Prince Road Show.

Ken Fountain, Founder/Technical Director
A former freelance animation artist with a degree in commercial art, Ken Fountain oversees EPFC’s film equipment and services department. In 1999 Ken started Super 8 Stuff, a small business dedicated to vintage film equipment repair and restoration. Ken was recently hired as a cinema technician by the University of Southern California.

Lisa Marr, Operations Director/Youth Film Coordinator
Lisa joined the EPFC family in 2003, soon after making her first Super 8 film. An award-winning filmmaker, writer and musician, Lisa’s work has been performed and exhibited throughout the world. She is Project Documentarian for artist Lauren Bon’s Metabolic Studio.

Eve-Lauryn Little Shell LaFountain, General Operations Manager
Eve LaFountain is an award winning filmmaker and photographer from Santa Fe, New Mexico. After completing the ABC Disney Institute of American Indian Arts Summer Film Workshop in 2008, Eve was sponsored by NBC Universal to move to Los Angeles and participate in their year long Page Program. She worked on the Tonight Shows with Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien, as well as a publicity assistant at USA Network and Focus Features. While in college in Amherst, Massachusetts, Eve was the head facilitator of a non-profit youth media arts program called Video Vanguards. Eve's film work has been screened at the ImagineNative Film and Media Arts Festival in Toronto, the American Indian Film Festival in San Francisco, the Smithsonian Museum in New York, the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Film Festival. She holds a BA Degree in experimental film, photography and Native American studies from Hampshire College.

Shauna McGarry: Youth Film Instructor; Seniors Digital Film Instructor
Shauna graduated from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film and Television and a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. While in New York, she developed and taught a media workshop for middle school girls in East Harlem. In addition to her volunteer youth instructor position at EPFC, Shauna works as a writer’s assistant on the young adult drama South of Nowhere.

Matthew Weathers: Youth Film Instructor
An alumnus of the Echo Park Film Center Youth Program and winner of the 2007 Bresee Foundation Youth Film Festival for Social Justice, Matt has been teaching EPFC youth classes since 2007. Matt is currently working towards an undergraduate degree in Philosophy.

Inodelle Carla Orendorff: Youth Film Instructor
Carla Orendorff is a student, media artist and activist who is passionate about using film and media to promote cross-cultural understanding throughout Los Angeles. An alumna of the Echo Park Film Center Youth Program, she became an EPFC Youth Program instructor and Youth Film Fest curator in 2008 and continues to learn about film by working with youth through collaboration and education.

Dino Everett: Film Archivist/Librarian
Dino is an award-winning musician and writer and a professional archivist at the UCLA Film and Television Archive. He has a BA in Critical Studies from USC and is currently finishing up an MA at UCLA. Known as the punk archivist, his material has been used by The Avengers, CRIME, FEAR, Dead Boys, Sex Pistols, VH1 and many others. His research interests involve silent cinema and the preservation of film on film culture, especially with discarded formats such as 9.5mm.

Sharmaine Starks: Outreach Coordinator
A San Diego, California, native and the first in her family to graduate from college, she received her BFA in Film/TV from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. After graduating, one of her jobs was as an Executive Assistant to two on air personalities working directly with companies such as BET, MTV and Entertainment Tonight. Experiencing the inner workings of the Entertainment Industry reaffirmed her passion to pursue independent filmmaking. Currently, she is studying at UCLA Extension in their (Writing/Directing) Certificate programs and working on her first feature length Documentary. Her goals as a filmmaker are to create relevant character driven stories about the inner city, which empower, provoke thought, and inspire.
